BT Launches 2007 Digital Music Awards

BT has launched the BT Digital Music
Awards 2007. The awards ceremony will be held on 2 October at the
Camden Roundhouse, which was the venue for last years event, and will
be screened on Channel 4. The awards are sponsored by BT Podshow.
Artists
and music companies can now enter one or more of the 20 award
categories via the BT Digital Music Awards official website,
www.btdma.com. The deadline for entry is 31 July, after which expert
judging panels will consider all of the entries and select the
shortlist. Theres one mobile-related award, for Best Mobile Campaign,
which was won last year by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, for his
Moblip campaign, which offered consumers a free ringtone from his
album, The Eraser. 
From the end of August, music fans will be given the chance to vote for their favourites on the Awards website.
Music fans will be given the chance to vote for 12 of the awards,
including Best Artist according to genre, Best Podcast, Best Music
Magazine and the Peoples Choice Awards.    
The Peoples Choice
Awards are Best Unofficial Music Site, Best Music Blog and Official
Music Artist Site. The first two are open to music fans that create and
develop their own online music presence. The latter, Best Official
Music Artist Site, is open to music professionals and recognises the
official online homes of recording artists all around the world.
Eight
of the awards are to be judged by the panel alone, including three new
award categories introduced this year Best Music Hardware, Best
Breakthrough Artist and Artist of the Year.
