Mobile transaction network mBlox has announced the opening of its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore to support demand in the region. With the expansion in this high-growth region, mBlox is offering connectivity and access to Western Premium SMS (PSMS) services to Asian Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and application providers. These offerings are the first in a portfolio that will include connectivity and PSMS services for global CSPs interested in the Asian market.
mBlox has appointed Faissal Houhou to head the sales and marketing efforts in the region. As part of his responsibilities, Houhou will manage and develop strategic relationships and accounts.
The announcement follows mBloxs acquisition of the subsidiary technical centre in Singapore of LaNetro Zed, a which develops and markets entertainment and communications products and services for mobile devices. As part of this agreement, mBlox hosts LaNetro Zeds operator connectivity business in Asia.
LaNetro Zed maintained ownership of all its content and marketing operations and is using mBloxs mobile transaction network as its preferred mobile billing infrastructure. The agreement confirms a growing trend in the mobile industry where large integrated companies are recognising the benefits of outsourced connectivity and billing and are moving to more focused business models.
Due to the significant growth in the Asian mobile messaging market, we recognised the importance of bringing our SMS, connectivity and billing services to this region, says mBlox Co-founder and Executive Chairman, Andrew Bud. This move is yet another step in our expansion plans, allowing us to extend our global SMS services to providers in Asia, and broaden the mode of entry to Asia for our Western customers.
mBlox CEO Jeff Clark adds:
SMS has moved beyond a social application to become a communication tool adopted by businesses globally. The Asia-Pacific region was one of the first adopters of SMS for business, and the mBlox presence in this region provides our customers with a presence and offerings in one of the worlds most critical areas for mobile.
