RIM is considering selling its handset business, according to a report in the Sunday Times.
The report quotes unnamed sources and says that the potential sale is one of the options being considered as JP Morgan and RBC Capital are working with the company on a strategic review to turn around its fortunes.
Facebook and Amazon are considered potential buyers, according to the report. It is understood that the suggested deal would involve selling the devices division while retaining BlackBerry Messenger and its mobile device management platform Mobile Fusion.
The report also suggests another option on the table would be to seek large-scale investment from a major technology player.
