Cross-device games company, WildTangent, has expanded its relationship with Sony Mobile Communications, adding WildTangent Games to selected Xperia smartphones and tablets.
WildTangent has been a Sony partner since September 2011 and is currently pre-installed on VAIO PCs and Sony Tablets S and P in Europe. Now, Sony’s Xperia smartphone customers worldwide will have access to WildTangent Games through the Sony Select discovery app, where they access games and buy, rent or play for free.
All Xperia owners who register with WildTangent will receive free WildCoins, WildTangent’s proprietary digital currency, to use for renting or buying games, or for buying in-game items. Popular titles include Fruit Ninja and SHADOWGUN, plus free-to-play titles Babel Rising 3D and Great Little War Game. Games are updated on the go without the user needing to visit a traditional app store. Free game sessions and sponsored virtual items are powered by BrandBoost, WildTangent’s advertising platform.
“Sony knows gamers better than anyone, and this partnership marks a significant new chapter for us,” said Sean Vanderdasson, senior vice president at WildTangent. “Our games will now be available to a huge number of people on premium Sony devices. We’ve been carefully testing our Android service with users, and the feedback has been incredible. People don’t want to spend time downloading individual games. They want to play when they have free moments throughout the day. Our games service delivers the best games seamlessly to users so that we are ready to play when they are. Sony’s new Xperia devices are fantastic products, and this is the perfect opportunity to bring our service to more mobile game players around the world.”
