Esendex Launches Developer Challenge

Esendex has announced the launch of the SMS Developer Challenge 2008. The competition gives developers the chance to show off aspiring ideas in the world of text messaging with the winning entrant receiving a cash prize of 1,000, and a chance at commercial success.
The competition will be judged by Mike Short, Chairman of the Mobile Data Association, Ewan McLeod, Editor of mobile blog SMS Text News, and Adam Bird, Managing Director and Co-founder of Esendex. Entrants will be judged on criteria including innovative use of 2-way SMS, customer benefits, commercial potential and ease of use.
Entries can either be focused on a specific niche, or have global appeal and it doesnt matter what handset the application runs on, so long as it meets the judging criteria. Successful applicants will be provided with a free Esendex virtual mobile number and business SMS account to support their entry.
We actively encourage developers and appreciate what a fresh pair of eyes can really achieve, says Esendex Managing Director, Adam Bird. We are keen to showcase new and interesting applications for 2-way SMS and look forward to the entries to our 2008 competition.
One runner-up will receive 500 and there are also five prizes of 50 worth of Amazon vouchers to be won. Participants may even be able to promote their applications to the press and customers through the competition.
