Facebook Reveals Most Talked-about Topics of 2015

Facebook 2015 reviewFacebook has released its top trends of 2015 report, with the UK and US elections emerging as the most discussed topics in the UK and globally respectively.

The second most-discussed event globally was the 13 November attacks in Paris, followed by the Syrian Civil War and refugee crisis. The top 10 was almost entirely dominated by disasters, crises and atrocities, from ISIS to Charlie Hebdo, though the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Ireland and the US provide a bright spot at number six.

The most-discussed music artist of the year was Ed Sheeran, Game of Thrones was the biggest TV show and Star Wars: The Force Awakens the biggest movie.

As well as conversation data, Facebook shared the most commonly checked-into locations across the globe. Disneys themeparks took the top spot, followed by their Universal Studios counterparts and Times Square in New York. The London Warner Bros Studio Tour was the most popular location in the UK, and 12th globally.
