Radioframe Debuts Femtocell Duo

Radio access solutions provider RadioFrame Networks has taken the wraps off OmniCell@Home and OmniCell@Work, two femtocell products that are designed for mobile network operators consumer and business customers.
The OmniCell product suite features small, low cost access point like base stations that are already gaining traction in the fixed mobile convergence market in small and medium enterprises and home offices needing in-building coverage improvements. The product suite will initially include 2G, expanding to a combined 2G/3G access point, with WiMAX and LTE following.
RadioFrame says it has launched OmniCell@Home and OmniCell@Work to enable mobile operators to provide in-building coverage and capacity for their consumer and business customers. It says the products are easy to deploy, and enable network operators to cost-effectively serve their customers by providing improved and enhanced in-building and in-home network coverage. RadioFrame says its newly expanded product suite is a unique solution to accomplish a mobile-only strategy, including fixed line replacement with consumers.
Femtocells and picocells have now risen to the top of the discussion in mobile network development and we are at the verge of widespread deployments in networks throughout the world, says RadioFrame CEO, Jeff Brown. We are beginning to see global deployment plans in mobile networks throughout the world, and the OmniRadio platform is critical to accelerated adoption, because of its inherent cost and feature advantages.
RadioFrame also says it will release its combined 2G and 3G OmniRadio Processor-based product by midyear and that it will be capable of producing low cost customer premise equipment (CPE) required by operators. Earlier this year, RadioFrame signed a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks for cooperation on 3G Femto Home Access. The initial 3G solution is targeted toward operators using the Nokia Siemens Networks Femto Gateway and RadioFrame Networks OmniRadio Processor-based CPE to help operators reduce costs, increase ARPU with service bundling, and offload the macro network traffic. The solution will improve indoor 3G coverage and capacity for consumers and small businesses. Additionally, earlier this year RadioFrame announced that European mobile network operator Orange would deploy its S-Series picocell solution in its networks in 2008.
