Burst SMS Offers Opt-out Advice

Australian firm (not American as we originally reported) BurstSMS has issued a three-point checklist to brands and agencies to ensure their SMS campaigns do no fall foul of opt-out regulation.
There have been some high profile cases of brands and their agencies getting stung sending SMS without an opt-out system, says BurstSMS Head of Innovation, Brad Down. To be properly SPAM compliant every electronic message must follow these three simple rules.

  1. The message must contain a method to opt-out within the message.
  2. You must have consent to send SMS messages to a person.
  3. You must identify yourself within the message

The companys SMS marketing platform makes it easy to integrate an SMS opt-out code, and also has opt-in form code to get consent and add recipients automatically to a texting list. The list can also be segemted with customised fields.
