Mobile advertising marketplace AdMob has added to its executive team by hiring Kevin Scott, a former Engineering Manager at Google. While at Google, Scott held leadership positions in both search and advertising. At AdMob, he will be responsible for managing both the software and hardware infrastructure, which currently enables over 1.5 billion targeted mobile banner and text ads each month.
We are thrilled to add a proven technology leader to our management team, says AdMob Founder and CEO, Omar Hamoui. Kevin brings deep experience building advertising solutions that maximise targeting and quality. Adding Kevin to our team empowers us to aggressively address the challenges of targeting and optimization for the mobile environment.
As Senior Engineering Manager at Google, Scott led the ads quality team engineering efforts, focused on improving the relevance of ads to users and increasing ROI for advertisers. He won the Google Founders award for his early work as an engineer on automating quality assessment of ads. He also directed teams responsible for improving the value of search results for users. His time at Google also included M&A work for two successful acquisitions; establishment of the annual Google Faculty summit; and the creation of a number of leadership development and engineering education programs.
Scott took leave from the Computer Science PhD program at the University of Virginia to join Google in 2003. Before this, he was a visiting researcher and instructor of computer science at the University of Goettingen in Goettingen, Germany. He is the recipient of an Intel Foundation Ph.D. Fellowship, and an ACM Recognition of Service Award.
