Amdocs, which provides solutions for communications, media, and financial services companies, has agreed to acquire premium content services provider Vubiquity for $224m (£158m).
The companies say the acquisition will offer them an increased capacity to deliver digital content capabilities for customers which include the likes Time Warner, Disney, Comcast, Sky, Netflix, and Amazon. Amdocs will look to use the purchase to deliver content offerings which let its customers ‘redirect operations, enable large libraries for global distribution, and efficiently monetise their content offerings’.
“This acquisition uniquely positions Amdocs at the centre of increased convergence across the content community and video distributors including major OTT providers,” said Eli Gelman, Amdocs president and CEO. “Our joint offerings address the media and entertainment industry’s challenge in balancing the incredible growth of content and the many ways to consume content with making programming easier, faster to deliver and ultimately watch, while also delivering profits.”
Vubiquity works with more than 600 film studios, television networks, and independent producers, operating in 121 countries in 80 languages. It boasts over 150,000 assets in its library, all of which will be picked up by Amdocs. The deal, which is expected to be completed before the end of Q2 this year, will also see Vubiquity CEO join Amdocs as head of its media division.
