There are just 15 business days between now and the Awards Ceremony for the 2011 Effective Mobile Marketing Awards, which takes place in London on 3 November. Today, were taking a closer look at the nominees in the third category.
So lets take a look at the companies and the campaigns vying for the honours in the Most Effective mCommerce Solution category. Here they are, in alphabetical order.
New Look/MIG – New Look’s Mobile Commerce Site
New Look’s first fully transactional mobile website offers the fashion brand’s customers a full shopping experience from their mobile device. Designed and built by Mobile Interactive Group (MIG), the site integrates New Look’s back-end web systems and utilises Javascript, CSS3 and HTML5.
The site includes ‘One Click’ checkout for registered users, and the ability to browse multiple products in one, two, or three columns. The site also allows users to use both the mobile site and the desktop site with a single shopping basket.
The site has exceeded targets – since it launched, New Look has reported a 24 per cent increase in mobile visits, and a 33 per cent increase in page views. Between the launch of the site in April, and the end of July, there has also been a 60 per cent increase in orders, and a 45 per cent increase in revenues.
PizzaExpress/2ergo – PizzaExpress iPhone App
PizzaExpress wanted to bring something new to its app, rather than just create a mobile presence for the sake of it. The popular restaurant chain identified the customer desire to speed up the process of paying the bill, and enlisted 2ergo to create an in-restaurant mobile payment system via an iPhone app. The app allows customers to pay and leave when they want.
The launch of the app and payment system was made possible by a company-wide roll-out of wi-fi from The Cloud. PayPal was also an enthusiastic project partner, and the system was aligned with PizzaExpress’s Torex till system.
In the app’s first week, it was downloaded 100,000 times, and took 15,000 table bookings, and payments worth £100,000 in its first month.
Usablenet/JD Sports – JD Sports Fashion Mobile
JD Sports is gearing up to launch its fourth mobile-optimised website, for the clothing brand Scotts Menswear. All powered by Usablenet, the company’s mobile websites aim to make the customer shopping experience as convenient as possible.
The JD Sports sites enable users to search product catalogues and buy on the device, and also leverage handsets’ GPS capabilities to allow the user to search for nearby store locations. By enabling a simple push-notification, customers can also create a homepage ‘web app’ for their favourite JD Sports brands.
The continued roll-out of mobile websites for JD Sports brands demonstrates the company’s speed to market in mobile and its commitment to a strong mobile shopping presence.
