BHF urges Twitch streamers to join lifesaving CPR campaign

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has called on Twitch streamers to participate new CPR campaign launched in partnership with media agency PHD.

In the UK, 12 individuals under 35 lose their lives to sudden cardiac death every week. However, early CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

As a result, BHF and PHD are enlisting the help of UK gamers on the social media giant to raise awareness about the crucial skill of CPR.

Streamers can use their ‘be right back’ screens to display links to RevivR and share statistics on cardiac arrest.

Meanwhile, notable Twitch steamers like Preach, TwoAngryGamers and RyanWasTaken have already supported the campaign.

Preach said: “When the British Heart Foundation reached out, I jumped at the chance. Just two days after I did the RevivR CPR demonstration with the British Heart Foundation a viewer reached out to me, saying they had used that information to save their two-year-old niece.

“To know that what we did, that something so simple had saved a life so quickly, was overwhelming.”

BHF, Director of Brand and Acquisition, Damion Mower, added: “We’re delighted to launch the next stage of our innovative and award-winning campaign with Twitch.

“By transforming your Twitch ‘be right back’ screen as a streamer, you can promote the BHF’s RevivR CPR tool and grow your channel at the same time.

“This campaign shows how the BHF is successfully forging partnerships across the digital world to drive our mission to save lives.”

The news comes as BHF recently launched a new campaign, flatlining live Twitch streams to raise awareness of the consequences of cardiac arrests.
