Cargo now lets ridesharers pay for goods with Venmo

CargoCargo, which brings in-car commerce to ridesharing, has teamed up with Venmo to integrate the peer-to-peer payment option into its platform.

With the integration, passengers riding in Cargo-equipped rideshare vehicles will be able to use Venmo to complete the purchase of any products available in the car. Furthermore, passengers can choose to share the products they purchase through Cargo on their Venmo feed.

“Cargo’s top priorities are to help drivers earn more, give riders their time back, and improve in-car comfort,” said Jeff Cripe, founder and CEO of Cargo. “Adding Venmo as a payment option allows us to keep current with consumer preferences and offer them the same seamless payment experience riders’ favourite retailers provide.”

To order products, passengers have to visit Cargo’s mobile platform, www.cargo.menu, on their smartphones, enter the driver’s box code, choose the items they wish to purchase, and then select to use Venmo at the checkout page.

Venmo has been made available as a payment option through Cargo in New York City, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
