English Dictonaries has made available the new Collins English Dictionary Pro (CED Pro) in full on a WAP site, and online. The company says this is the first time that students and teachers across the UK have been able to access their English dictionary anywhere, and in any way they want, from a classroom PC through to their personal mobile phone.
Access to the WAP version comes as part of a a regularly-updated annual online subscription package to the Collins English
Dictionary Pro, which costs 14.99 + VAT (17.61). A standalone desktop download for a PC or Mac is available for 19.99 +VAT (22.49).
Subscribers to the online/WAP version can access the most up-to-date words, definitions, biographies and more through any WAP-enabled mobile device. There are over 6,000 are included in the online version of the dictionary, many of which link into UK curriculum subjects. Not only can searches be carried out on celebrity figures, but also on heads of state and key politicians, notable media and arts people and sporting heroes.
Searching for an entry is easy, the company says. Each of the 120,000 word entries is hyperlinked and can be accessed at the click of a button. Information can be searched for in a variety of intuitive ways, including fuzzy matching, and inflected form look up. 
Reflecting the constant evolution of the English language, the CED Pro is a complete unabridged dictionary and thesaurus, designed to be updated regularly with all the latest vocabulary. Over 100 new words are already included in the online and WAP version, offering subscribers the chance to access words that are still on editors desks waiting for inclusion in the next printed version.
