British mobile network operator EE has partnered with BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) to bring 4G-powered film screenings to rural communities across the UK this summer.

The 4GEE Community Cinema Club is bringing BAFTA award-winning films to newly 4G-connected rural areas in England, Wales and Scotland. In addition, each community is being given a 4GEE Community Cinema Kit containing a 4G wi-fi device, a connected projector, wireless speaker and a movie streaming voucher.

“This year we celebrated the 20th year of our long-standing partnership with BAFTA and announced that our 4G coverage now stretches to more than 80 per cent of the UK geography,” said Max Taylor, MD of marketing at EE. “The 4GEE Community Cinema Club is the perfect way to demonstrate the power of our 4G connectivity through film.”

The first Cinema Club event saw EE provide rock climbers with a film – while they were suspended on portaledge tents on the side of Gimmer Crag, Lake District. EE has one final screening up for grabs and is encouraging film fans to apply for the chance to have the Cinema Club visit them in September. Five runners up will be sent one of the 4GEE Community Cinema Kits.
