EMS to Roll Out iPad Kiosks

Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), a US retailer specializing in outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, and accessories, has successfully piloted the VeriFone GlobalBay iPad solution in four of its stores, and is preparing to roll the devices out across its stores.

The VeriFone GlobalBay platform is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that enables a suite of next-generation mobile retail software for retailer-to-consumer interaction and leverages retailers’ existing POS, eCommerce, and store systems. The solution enables EMS’ in-store sales assistants to outfit shoppers from the company’s full product line-up.

“No longer are we constrained by square footage as to what we can sell,” says Scott Barrett, vice president of eCommerce at EMS. “Utilizing this service from VeriFone enables us to provide consumers with all our products on hand in the store and online.”

The VeriFone GlobalBay Retailing app for iPad improves the interaction between store associate and consumer, while enhancing the overall in-store selling experience. The company says its offerings empower retailers to go live fast and easily scale the solution to optimal levels, while avoiding costs and complexity typically associated with custom solutions.
