The man in charge of the News Feed has said that the changes to the social network’s core feature will mean less videos appearing to users.
Speaking to Wired, Facebook’s VP of product management Adam Mosseri made it clear that, though video has become an important part of Facebook, it would be one area that would have to suffer in order to achieve “meaningful social interactions” between friends and family.
“There will be less video,” he said. “Video is an important part of the ecosystem. Its been consistently growing. But its more passive in nature. Theres less conversation on videos, particularly public videos.”
In addition to there being less videos to get caught up in, Mosseri also said there would be less content directly from professional pages. Instead content that is shared between friends will be given priority, and there will be more content from the “increasingly active and vibrant” groups that people are part of.
