Facebook opens up Brand Collabs Tool to select Instagram creators

Facebook is opening up its Brand Collabs Manager marketplace tool to “a select group of Instagram creators”, though it hasnt specified how many, or how they have been selected. The tool essentially enables brands to search for creators to work with, and had previously only been available to Facebook creators. The move will enable some Instagram creators search for like-minded brands looking to partner on content creation. They can source new deals, manage partnerships, and automatically share insights with them. Previously, many Instagram creators could only send brands screenshots of their analytics.

Facebook has also made it possible for brands to see insights when they’re tagged in branded content in both Brand Collabs Manager and the Instagram app. Because influencer networks remain a critical part of branded content, the company said it will continue to support their access to the Instagram Graph API.

Facebook is also updating its policies to include clearer rules for the promotion of certain goods and services such as vaping, tobacco, alcohol and diet supplements. Branded content that promotes goods such as vaping, tobacco products and weapons will no longer be allowed. Facebook had already banned advertising of these products, but for some reason, branded content was allowed. It said enforcement would begin “in the coming weeks”, but that branded content that promotes goods such as alcohol or diet supplements will require “special restrictions” and that “these policies will go into effect next year as we continue to improve our tools and detections.”
