Geodesic Information Systems has announced the launch of Mundu IM iPhone Edition, a version of its Mundu Instant Messaging client specifically designed and optimised to work with the Apple Safari web browser on the iPhone. Mundu IM has been completely customised for the iPhone and, the company says, is the only IM application that provides users with the unique look and feel that they have come to expect from native iPhone applications.
The application offers iPhone users access to seamless chat across leading IM services MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk and AIM. Apart from simultaneous login to multiple IM services and managing online presence with custom status messages, Mundu IM has innovative features like search and remove buddies, send smilies and quick texts, as well as the ability to remember usernames and passwords.
Research conducted by Capgemini predicts that instant messaging will soon overtake text messaging as a form of communication. It forecasts that 32% of UK mobile customers using an IM service by 2012, sending as many as 15-18 messages per day.
