Twitter has launched the Full-Archive Search API, enabling marketers to search for any public tweet from the services nine-year history.
Developed by Gnip, the social data firm Twitter acquired last April, the API builds on the companys previous offering, which only allowed for searches of the past 30 days.
“For brands to most effectively analyze Twitter data in the present, they also need to know what’s happened in the past,” said Twitter product manager Adam Tornes. “This is the case whether you’re talking about messaging and advertising campaigns or developing new products.”
The API has been available in a private beta, but is now publicly available to any of Gnips customers.
