Groupon has launched Breadcrumb, an iPad POS app for restaurants, bars and cafés, in the US.
The daily deals company acquired Breadcrumb four months ago, as part of an effort to expand its local commerce offering. In the meantime, it ran a limited pilot in New York, but is now going nationwide to all US hospitality businesses.
Breadcrumb acts a virtual till, with advanced features like the ability to merge and split customers bills or adjust items, as well as real-time sales and workforce analytics. As part of the acquisition, Breadcumb is fully integrated with Groupon Payments.
“As someone who worked in the hospitality industry, I grew tired of paying tens of thousands of dollars for overly complex and unreliable POS systems that were difficult to use” said Breadcrumb GM Seth Harris. “The Breadcrumb team used our knowledge of the restaurant and bar business to develop an exceptional POS system backed by a first-rate support team, all at one of the lowest prices in today’s marketplace.”
