Hungryhouse Predicts Mobile Ordering To Dominate Within Six Months

android_device_splash_noglossOnline food ordering site Hungryhouse has released insights into its mobile ordering data from the last 12 months, including the fact it expects mobile ordering to overtake web ordering within the next six months.

Mobile traffic to the service has seen a 60 per cent growth in the last year, and now accounts for almost 40 per cent of Hungryhouse orders, either via its mobile app or through mobile web. While iPhone was the dominant platform a year ago, Android growth is currently three times faster than iOS devices.

Interestingly, there is also a clear divide in cuisine choice between the two operating systems, with Android users preferring pizza and Indian food, while iPhone users favour Chinese by a clear margin. iPhone users also order four times as many cans of soft drink as Android users.

Android users also appear to be more frugal, with an average basket value £4 lower than iPhone users, while iPhone users spend three times longer placing their order, and view almost twice as many screens before making their final selection.
