Mobile trade body MEF has rebranded itself as the Mobile Ecosystem Forum.
“The Mobile Ecosystem Forum is a natural evolution for our organisation championing the broadening industry to represent all members of the ecosystem, across borders, sectors and company size,” said Rimma Perelmuter, CEO of MEF. “The ecosystem we work with connects all companies who deliver or enable consumer mobile services.”
MEF also announced the seven EMEA board directors elected at an event during MWC. Darren Foulds, MD of mobile and Pingit at Barclays, was re-elected as chair. The other six new members are Adia Sowho, head of digital media at Etisalat Nigeria; James McNab, MD Africa and CCO at Basebone; Robert Gerstmann, MD at CLX Networks; Graham Thomas, marketing director at Deutsche Telekom UK; Chris Davies, general counsel EMEA & head of privacy, InMobi; and Tahsin Akar, director of mobile services at Turkcell.
“MEF’s evolution to the Mobile Ecosystem Forum is an essential evolution of both the industry and the organisation,” said Foulds. “Mobile presents exciting new opportunities across the value chain and in markets previously connected. MEF provides a global platform for addressing issues that affect the ever-broadening ecosystem through member collaboration.”
