Internet radio station Play Radio UK has revealed that an average of 6,000 listeners a day have been tuning in to its stations via their mobile handsets since the company launched four of its stations on a new streaming platform that allows audience to listen on a hand-held device such as a mobile phone. The four stations available to mobile users are Play Radio UK,  Play Rock UK, Play Classical UK and Play Top 40 UK. 
We were all very excited when we launched this new service, but no one expected these figures to be so impressive and it proves that streaming radio is the way forward in every respect says Station Manager Marcus Quilter. Listeners are obviously very pleased to be able to log on to Play Radio UK wherever they are, and not just via a PC, and we have already been approached by some big league mobile players about carrying our service
The company says it is planning to add more brand extensions to the mobile streaming in the near future.
