Mobile Travel Booking Has Overtaken Desktop, says JiWire

52 per cent of travel bookings made in the last 90 days were on a mobile device, according to a report from mobile ad platform JiWire – meaning smartphones and tablets have overtaken desktop.

Tablet accounted for 29 per cent of bookings, and smartphones for 23 per cent.

At 32 per cent, branded airline and travel aggregator apps proved to be the most popular option of booking on mobile, over browsing the mobile web.

Encouragingly, 44 per cent of consumers are willing to spend over $500 when booking travel from a mobile device.
