Jon Mew Named as New CEO of IAB UK
The Internet Advertising Bureau UK has announced that John Mew has been promoted from his position as chief operating officer to become the new chief executive at the industry body.
Mew joined the IAB UK in November 2008 as the first head of mobile, before becoming director of mobile and operations as mobile merged with the core part of the business. He became COO in September 2014, and with mobile overtaking desktop as the biggest digital platform, his experience in mobile will prove invaluable in leading the industry forward.
“The IAB will soon represent a £10bn industry in this country, more complex and variegated than any other media sector,” said Richard Eyre, chairman of IAB UK. “Jon not only has a deep understanding of the workings of the IAB today, he has a compelling vision for its future and proven skills to execute on a demanding strategy. Im excited to be working with him and his team to deliver it.”
“Its a thrilling and exacting time to be taking this role,” said Mew. “The sensational range of digital services that have become part of our daily life are primarily funded by advertising. I want to re-assert positivity around this.
“The IAB will restructure to provide greater engagement with agencies and advertisers. Also, reflecting the pace and growth of our sector, the IABs activities will be focused to serve the industry more assertively.”
Apester Appoints New Vice President of UK Sales
Remy Wasyluk, former head of sales for Teads, is set to join leading interactive content platform Apester as its vice president of UK sales, bringing with him over 10 years experience selling advertising solutions to clients and agencies.
“Remy has the experience we need to bring Apester to the fore with brands as well as publishers,” said Moti Cohen, CEO of Apester. “His work with Teads and others has prepared him for this new role.”
Apester provides publishers and brands with tools to create dynamic, engaging experiences for audiences, working with over 10,000 editors to deepen reader engagement and generate data-driven insights. The firm reaches more than 300m consumers monthly through work with publishing partners including Sky News, AOL, Time, Fox Sports and Huffington Post.
Gamevil Europe Expands Berlin Offices
Korean mobile games publisher Gamevil is growing its European operation headquartered in Berlin, doubling the headcount of employees and hiring Chinh Vu as new head of marketing for the firm.
Vu has worked for companies including Kabam, Nintendo and Sega, and will strengthen local marketing efforts for the Gamevil and Com2Us brands, supporting both long-running titles and new releases.
“Our approach to marketing is very broad and requires the execution of performance-driven UA campaigns as well as TV and influencer campaigns,” said David Mohr, managing director of Gamevil Europe. “We are very glad to have found such an experienced, knowledgeable and game-loving specialist to head our marketing department.”
