Muzicall Launches Europes First Charity Ringback Tone for Children in Need

Ringback tone (RBT) specialist Muzicall has teamed up with three UK mobile operators – Orange, Virgin and 3UK – media companies and mobile advertising networks, including PepperMobi, M&C Saatchi Mobile, net mobile, Hutchhouse and MJ Media, to produce and promote a charity ringback tone for BBC Children in Need 2010.

Mobile Users with participating operators will be able to support BBC Children in Need by buying the ringback tone, with prices starting at £2.50. 100 per cent of the revenue generated (excluding VAT) will be donated to BBC Children in Need by participating mobile operators.

The charity ringback tone features Peter Dickson, the instantly recognisable voice behind hit shows such as The X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. Once a mobile customer has bought the tone, it will be played to people who call them while they  wait for them to answer the phone, for a one-month period. The tone informs callers that the person they are calling has made a donation to BBC Children in Need and then provides further details on how they can support the charity by donating and playing the tone to their callers.

“We are incredibly excited to have collaborated with so many high calibre partners to produce the very first charity ringback tone in Europe,” says Muzicall CMO, Lourens de Beer. “Millions of mobile phone calls are made in the UK every day and ringback tones are a perfect way for any charity to both raise money and  promote their key messages to anyone who calls a customer with a charity tone. We’re sure that this tone will be a great success in raising money for BBC Children in Need and helping support their mission of making a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.”

Ringback tones typically consist of music, but the customer can also choose from TV and movie themes, sound effects and numerous other sounds, even advertising. Muzicall’s RBT.4.ALL platform enables customers to create their own content library, giving them the ability to assign a different tune for different callers. There’s more information here.
