People without Google accounts will soon be able to collaborate on G Suite files

G SuiteGoogle is making easier for people without one of its accounts to work on documents with others in G Suite. A new feature, coming soon, will enable G Suite users to invite people with Google accounts or G Suite subscriptions to collaborate on work.

Currently in beta, the feature will enable people without Google accounts to view, comment, suggest edits to, and directly edit Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files. Once invited, non- Suite users are provided with a pin code, which is used to get to work on the necessary documents.

The owner of a file is able to view ‘detailed activity’ on their files and see who made an input to a file, and they are able to revoke access at any time they wish. Furthermore, admins can set permissions by department or domain and set specific sharing permissions, such as letting users share with anyone or restricting sharing outside of whitelisted domains.

In order to express interest in beta access to the pin code sharing feature, companies can fill out this form and list a non-G Suite domain that they would like to share with frequently.
