Scotland’s first mobile ticketing app for public transport, launched in November by the UK’s largest publicly-owned bus company, has surpassed 100,000 tickets sold in just two months.
Along with planning and customising their journey, passengers can pre-pay for a range of Lothian Bus journeys and ticket types, simply flashing their mobile ticket to the driver when boarding the bus. The app also works offline for people who don’t have mobile internet. The cloud-based ticketing app, built by CoreThree, can be updated by the bus company as new services are created
Lothian Bus has also launched a data-driven information app that enables users to ask for ‘stop alerts’ if they are travelling on a route they don’t know, or they are likely to fall asleep!
