The Telangana Government in India has launched the country’s first dedicated healthcare app for the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The app was designed by the Healthcare Innovation Cell (HIC) of the Ministry of Health and built by Mahindra Comviva on its WebAxn platform, a client-server solution that empowers users to manage their own account directly through a client on their handsets. It is designed to make healthcare facilities more accessible and fulfil the Digital India Initiative. The app is available as a free download to Android users in both Telugu and English languages.
There are more than 800 Government Healthcare Centres in Telangana state listed in the app, including Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, Area Hospitals, District Hospitals and Specialized Centres. The App will help the Ministry to facilitate access to its initiatives, provide public health information, locate health centres, and empower citizens to track and record their health data.
“One of the most important aspects [of the app] is to empower individuals to be able to track their health and encourage a positive health-seeking behaviour in the long run,” said Dr. Anthony Vipin Das, chief advisor & strategy, Healthcare Innovation Cell, Ministry of Health, Medical & family Welfare. “We have designed tools for helping individuals monitor their health information that also benefits their healthcare providers, as they can review the trends.”
