Red Kite Animation picked up the inaugural award for best mobile short film at this years Talent Circle Super Shorts Film Festival for its animated short, The Imp. The film was voted as the best film designed for viewing on phones and handheld devices at the festival by a panel of judges, and by people who voted by text to download each of the entries.
A pure, unsullied black & white 3D comedy show packed with high calorie evil, The Imp is a light-hearted take at trying to square a career, in this case creating hell on earth, with family and domestic life. The Imp is evil, but fortunately, he is worse than useless at it! The series takes place in and around the magnificent Lair where The Imp lives with his brother Bob, the real brains of the operation. Arch, deadpan and terribly house proud, Bob just wants to keep it all on track, while The Imp tries to bring about the apocalypse.
The Imp series of 65 x 1-minute shorts is currently being broadcast by the Disney Channel in Japan and Cartoon Network in the US. Red Kite is in discussions with broadcasters and mobile content providers to broadcast The Imp series in the UK.
We have been overwhelmed by the response weve had for The Imp from fans across the globe says Red Kite Managing Director, Ken Anderson. Im pleased The Imp has won this award and I hope that we will be able to bring the exploits of The Imp to a new fan base in the UK.
Now in its 3rd year, the Talent Circle Super Shorts Film Festival uses traditional and non-traditional venues to screen independently-made short films created by emerging and established film-makers alike. The panel of judges this year included film director and festival patron Irvin Kershner, Tony Klinger, CEO of TLMH, Owen Purcell from Blue Star Mobile Group, and Lars Branvall from Mobile Media.
