Marvel blockbuster The Avengers broke a whole range of ticket sale records back in May, but its not the only superhero movie in town – and, according to online ticket seller Fandango, The Dark Knight Rises is set to break them all over again.
On the eve of its opening weekend, the Batman-starring film is outpacing The Avengers performance at the same point in the sales cycle, selling out over 2,000 screenings and accounting for 91 per cent of all daily ticket sales. But, while Fandango reckons The Dark Knight Rises will be one of Fandangos all-time top mobile ticket-sellers, the proportion of tickets bought via its mobile site and apps, just under 30 per cent, isnt as high for The Avengers, which saw a record 42 per cent of ticket sales coming via mobile.
Fandango has seen an overall 28 per cent surge in ticket sales year-over-year, with mobile, up 107 per cent, making up more and more of its sales.
