Mobile network 3 has announced details of its programming package for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which will include made-for-mobile TV shows and fast-turnaround match highlights.
3 has acquired non-exclusive mobile broadcast rights in the UK and Ireland for all 64 games in the World Cup Finals. Its package will be offered free of charge, and will include three dedicated mobile TV channels, showing, respectively, extended match highlights, Todays Best of content and a specially-commissioned daily magazine show.
Highlights of each match will be available following every game, five minutes after the final whistle. A new match centre application for the 2006 FIFA World Cup will also offer minute-by-minute text commentary and in-match stats from every game.
The 2006 FIFA World Cup is the first mainstream event where video mobile will play a major role as a media platform says 3 Marketing Director, Graeme Oxby. In keeping with our track record of innovation, we are delivering specially made-for- mobile content and an exciting package of programming. Whats more 3 customers get all this for free.
