Three More for Wayra Academy

A further three UK start-ups have been invited to join the London Wayra Academy this month after winning a competition to get seed funding, free office space, advice and support at the O2/Telefónica funded tech accelerator situated in Central London.

The space now houses 19 start-up businesses in total, across a broad range of tech industries ranging from education to security and dating to decisions. One place still remains at Wayra UK, which will be used to host an international start-up from one of the 11 other Wayra Academies across Europe and Latin America.

“We are really excited to welcome three new teams to our global accelerator,” says guest academy director, Ashley Stockwell. “They will add further impetus to the start-up ecosystem we are building within Wayra.”

The three latest additions to the London Wayra family are BuddyBounce, a platform that rewards fans for their passion and support; Sustaination; a dating site for food enterprises; and Platter, which turns home cooks’ photos into democratic food media. Their mission? To be the place you go to decide what to eat and where to get.

As you can see from these three new additions, the Wayra Academy has a decidedly creative bent to it. You can see a video report we made on the venture a few weeks ago here.
