Virgin Media has become the latest retailer to give one of its flagship stores a digital makeover, incorporating interactive signage and mobile POS into its London Westfield location.
Using technology created by Acquire Digital, the store features touchscreen video walls to swipe their way through the stores selection of handsets and tariffs, as well as a motion sensitive ‘front door’ display for the store which triggers a doorbell effect and opening animation as customers approach. The store also incorporates a modified Microsoft Kinect system, and enables shoppers to watch TiVo in-store.
“One of the main requirements for Virgin Media was to inject fun into everything and encourage exploration,” said Acquire head of design Mat Bartram. “Virgin Media is an exciting brand to work with and has provided us with the opportunity to be really creative and push the boundaries of traditional digital signage. With such a broad range of digital signage being used, we’ve been able to create content from films to 3D animation, gesture controls and content for touchscreen applications.”
Virgin Media says it will incorporate successful elements from the store at Westfield into its shops across the country.
