Whitepaper Examines Mobile Recruitment

Recruitment firms Jobsite and Allthetopbananas.com have published a whitepaper entitled, The Future of Mobile Recruitment.

Based on the outcome of a roundtable event attended by brands including Google, Microsoft, the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) and Reuters, the report reveals the role that mobile should be playing in recruitment.

Through discussion of the current mobile landscape and the developments that it will undergo, the report details why mobile needs to be a core part of companies’ recruitment strategy, and outlines why organisations need to act now to most effectively harness the benefits of mobile.

Some of the key outtakes from the whitepaper include:

  • Consumers are far more advanced than businesses in terms of their adoption and acceptance of mobile internet
  • Mobile has great synergies with recruitment – convenience, privacy and immediacy
  • Customers’ online experience via PCs is given far greater importance than their access via mobile which is at odds with the fact that soon half, or more, of internet access in the UK will be via mobile
  • More people already access social networking sites via mobile than via a PC
  • Jobsite saw a 390 per cent increase in mobile traffic between January 2009 & April 2010
  • Cloud computing will help to make mobile more powerful than the desktop

“It sometimes feels like there is always something new and critical for the recruitment industry to embrace and it can be difficult to separate the game-changers from the time-wasters,” says Jobsite managing director, Keith Potts. “This is why we were so keen to co-host a roundtable with leading figures from the mobile industry, to help recruiters truly understand what role mobile could play in their business and how they can most effectively embrace it. We hope that the resulting Future of Mobile Recruitment whitepaper offers some interesting insights into where mobile is heading and helps to determine the different ways that it can be utilised by recruiters.”
