Woman Gets Mobile Bill for €12 Quadrillion

Bill shock is one of those buzzwords were hearing quite a lot these days. Its the moment you open your mobile bill at the end of the month, only to discover youve somehow used three times your data limit, and the charges have gone through the roof.

But this has to be a new record – a subscriber to French network Bouygues Telecom received a bill for €11,721,000,000,000,000. Thats nearly 12 quadrillion, or 12 million billion Euros – nearly 6,000 times Frances GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2011. Less bill shock, then, more bill heart attack.

The customer, Solenne San Jose , attempted to cancel her contract, reports local newspaper Sud Ouest. She then received a letter telling her she would have to pay off any remaining charges first – which somehow amounted to the gargantuan figure.

Apparently, customer service took a long time to admit to a mistake with the automatically calculated, and even suggested she pay off the amount in installments, before admitting that the actual amount was €117.21. By way of apology, Bouygues Telecom wont be collecting the amount.
