Yihaodian and Ogilvy Open 1,000 Stores Overnight

Online retailer Yihaodian has teamed up with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in Shanghai to launch 1,000 virtual stores across China.

Located at iconic Chinese landmarks, as well as directly in front of the brick-and-mortar stores of the retailers offline competitors, the stores can be accessed using the Yihaodian Virtual Store AR app. Users have to be in the right physical location to trigger the content, and then can view and buy items, as well as access discount coupons.

“Not only is this one-stop shopping experience cost-effective, it’s a direct home delivery service that’s free from the restrictions of store location, shelf space and operating hours through its mobile and e-commerce capabilities,” said Yihaodian chairman Yu Gang. “Consumers can enjoy the convenience of online shopping while still having fun purchasing from these virtual stores that are set up in residential communities, offices, parks, and even on the Great Wall.”
