Salon Booking Service Wahanda Buys Lemon Labs for Seven Figure Sum

WahandaOnline beauty marketplace Wahanda has acquired app development firm Lemon Labs for a seven-figure sum, as part of its ongoing attempt to becoming a mobile-first company.

Wahanda enables people to book hair and beauty treatment appointments at any of the 8,000 spas and salons signed up to its platform.

The two companies have been working together for the past six months. Lithuania-based Lemon Labs developed Wahandas app, which recently broke 150,000 downloads, a number that Wahanda says is growing 20 per cent each month.

“Wahanda’s bookings show that 50% of all hair and beauty appointments are now made via a mobile device, and that a fifth of consumers who make appointments now expect to be seen within three hours of making that booking.

“We have been working with the Lemon Labs team for the past six months in building our consumer and business apps, and the results speak for themselves,” said Lopo Champalimaud, CEO and founder of Wahanda. “

“The future of Wahanda is in mobile, and we are delighted the Lemon Labs team is now officially an integrated part of our technology team and can continue to lead our product thinking and development, to ensure we deliver the best possible mobile experience for our users.”

This deal follows Wahandas acquisition of German equivalent Salonmeister last November after raising $26m investment, as the UK company expands into Europe.
