Burberry has worked with Google to create the Burberry Kisses brand campaign, which enables people to send a digital kiss to a loved one anywhere in the world.
Using ‘kiss recognition technology’ created by Google for the Kisses.Burberry.com site, users can record a kiss using their desktop camera or with direct lip contact on their smartphone. Before adding a personalised message, they can also select an optional Burberry lip colour for the kiss.
Each kiss is brought to life through a personalised animation from the sender’s location to the recipient’s, bringing Google Earth and Street View technologies together. Burberry Kisses are then being captured on a real-time interactive map, allowing desktop viewers to see kisses moving around the world and which areas most kisses come from. The campaign is part of Google’s ‘Art, Copy & Code’ initiative, an ongoing series of brand partnerships which aims to re-imagine how brands tell stories in a connected world.
“Were constantly thinking about how we translate the emotion of what we create and experience in the real world into the digital space,” said Christopher Bailey, Burberry chief creative officer. “Burberry Kisses began with the idea of giving technology a bit of heart and soul, and using it to unite the Burberry family across the world – by telling a story that makes the digital personal.”
