Instagram is celebrating and supporting the next generation of LGBTQ+ changemakers through #SharewithPride.
To encourage users to join the celebrations, the platform is updating some of its popular tools and releasing new features that colourfully highlight LGBTQ+ expression.
These include three new tappable stickers designed by three global LGBTQ+ illustrators, that speak to the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community including gender non-conforming, asexual, trans and gender-fluid identities and two celebratory animations that let people add a rainbow-flag or trans-flag inspired filter on top of their re-shared posts.
Instagram is also launching a #Pride section on the Shop tab that will offer curated collections of LGBTQ+ owned products and brands, encouraging users to show their support by purchasing from the #ShopWithPride collections, or by tuning in to Pride-themed live shopping events. On Facebook, brands like ZOX and Sephora will celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community during Live Shopping Fridays.
Instagram is also giving people more control over their identity, by making it easier for users to publicly display their pronouns on their profile via a new field.
To support LGBTQ+ wellbeing on its platforms in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the platform will partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and experts to discuss mental health, share resources, and showcase inclusive and meaningful Facebook communities.
All month long, Facebook apps “However you pride, pride on” content shows how LGBTQ+ people connect through shared interests and hobbies in Facebook Groups. Users will also see the launch of a new song — “Pride” by Blxck Cxsper and Lady Londyn from the Trans Musicians Facebook Group.
The Facebook app will also premiere a TV spot as part of the ‘More Together’ advertising campaign, featuring Emmy award-winning actress and transgender advocate, Laverne Cox. The ad showcases the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ communities, spotlighting remarkable LGBTQ+ Facebook Groups.
