South Korean electronics giants Samsung and LG will both reportedly unveil their first 5G smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona in February.

Samsung will be celebrating the 10^th anniversary of its Galaxy flagship series and will, according to the Korea Herald, unveil three versions of the Galaxy S10 alongside a separate 5G-based model, which is likely to mark the beginning of a new line of products.

It is believed the Galaxy S10 series will feature a 5.8-inch version, a 6.1-inch main model, and a 6.4-inch S10+.

To accompany the new smartphones, reports suggest that Samsung could also unveil a cold wallet system to store and trade cryptocurrencies.

Meanwhile, LG is likely not to introduce a new handset series nor is it likely to unveil a new smartphone. Instead, the belief is that the Seoul-based company will unveil an upgraded version of the G7 ThinQ featuring Qualcomm’s 5G chipsets.

According to an industry official, “LG aims to make a turnaround for the smartphone business in 2020, taking the 5G introduction as a new opportunity”.
