SimbaPay Heading to Ghana and Uganda

SimbaPay app screenshotSimbaPay – a London-based digital money transfer provider that allows money to be transferred from Europe to Africa – is now available to those looking to transfer money to Ghana and Uganda.

Using the SimbaPay app or website, Ghanaians and Ugandans living in the UK and EU countries will now be able to send money to mobiles in Ghana or Uganda. Prior, money could only be sent to Nigeria and Kenya – where all banks across both countries are covered by the app.

“This is the perfect Christmas gift to Ghanaians and Ugandans living in Europe who have been asking when SimbaPay will expand coverage to their home countries” said Nyasinga Onyancha, CEO for SimbaPay. “By delivering money via existing mobile money wallet services, many recipients who previously could not access formal financial services can now do so.”

Ghanaians and Ugandans living in the UK and EU countries with a bank account, debit card or credit card are able to use the SimbaPay app from any smartphone, tablet or computer. The money is transferred into a mobile money wallet of the recipient – eliminating the need for queues and paperwork.

In April, SimbaPay was selected as one of 10 companies to join the first ever Barclays Accelerator powered by Techstars in Africa and, last year, won DEMO Africa 2015.

SimbaPay is available on both iOS and Android, and is currently looking into more destinations and seeking more partners to continue to grow in 2017.
