Taco Bell Launches Bot for Ordering Food

Taco Bell
Fast food chain Taco Bell has launched a chat bot for work messaging platform Slack.

Tacobot, as its know, can be messaged like any other contact to ask questions about the Taco Bell menu and, by connecting up their account, make orders for pickup. It also features pre-scripted answers to a variety of other chat questions (like Which came first, the chicken or the egg?). You can see it in action below.

Tacobot is currently in a private beta with teams at companies including Giphy, FullScreen and Thought Catalog.

Chatbots seem to be the flavour of the month. At its Build developer conference, Microsoft launched bots for Skype and announced a renewed focus on its Cortana personal assistant, following – and hoping to divert attention from – the fairly disastrous launch of its Tay Twitterbot last month. Kik followed suit earlier this week, opening its own bot store, and Facebook is expected to join the bot party next week with announcements from its F8 conference.
