Tesco Closes Clubcard TV Streaming Service

Outdoor Tablet UseTesco will close its ad-supported video streaming service, Clubcard TV, on 28 October, citing lack of interest as the reason.

Powered by Tesco-owned streaming service Blinkbox, the service was launched in March 2013 as an exclusive to Tescos Clubcard owners, without fees or subscriptions. It promised thousands of movies and TV shows available to watch, with all revenue provided through in-service advertisements.

However, the service was not adopted by enough customers, with a support page regarding the closure stating “whilst many enjoyed our free service, we werent getting the level of repeat usage we had hoped for.”
