vmwareCloud infrastructure solution specialist VMWare and IoT business Jasper are to team up to encourage enterprises to engage with connected devices across the Internet of Things and enterprise mobility management (EMM) tools.

The convergence of IoT and EMM creates substantial opportunities for generating value for businesses, with the ability to manage complex systems of mobile devices across the globe and in real-time becoming increasingly important.

The collaboration will bring together VMwares EMM solution AirWatch with the Jasper Control Centre, the companys IoT service platform. The two companies hope the integration will provide users with broader control and visibility over their connected devices in the enterprise, and enable them to make smarter, real-time operation decisions.

“For a decade, companies around the world have been building their IoT businesses on the Jasper Platform,” said Jahangir Mohammed, founder and CEO of Jasper. “Weve seen demand grow across six continents and dozens of industries. The combination of mobile services management by Jasper and device management from AirWatch addresses the tremendous need across enterprises for an integrated IoT/EMM solution.”

VMware has also recently joined the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) to further advance and support enterprise initiatives involving the Internet of Things. The IIC was founded earlier this year to promote the development, adoption and use of interconnected machines and intelligent analytics.

“We are excited to join a leading associate that actively promotes IoT standards and brings some of the most innovative industry partners together to advance IoT in the enterprise,” said Sanjay Poonen, executive vice president and general manager of end-user computing at VMware. “We chose to join the IIC because of its tenacious goal to accelerate IoT in the workplace, educate the industry on standards and deliver best practices for IoT.”
