Mobile operator 3 has launched an iOS and Android app, My 3, which enables 3s subscribers to check their voice, messaging, and data usage, with data visualisations showing how theyre doing in relation to their limits.
Created with service design consultancy Fjord, the app is intended to improve customer relations through greater transparency. The idea is that subscibers know when to slow their usage and avoid bill shock at the end of month – a phenomenon which has been attracting bad publicity for a number of operators of late.
Users will also be able to view trends in their usage patterns, including who they message most, and what time of day they are most active on their phone.
“With My 3, we wanted to do something completely new to help our customers really understand their mobile phone usage,” said Johan Gertell, vice president of digital services at 3 Sweden. “By partnering with Fjord, we have created a beautiful, innovative way to give our customers access to their data and show our commitment to transparency.”
The app will initially launch in Sweden, before presumably coming to other countries – though 3 hasnt yet confirmed this.
