YouTube named world’s most popular digital marketing tool

A recent study has crowned YouTube as the world’s most popular digital marketing tool, with over 10,000 average monthly Google searches.

Trailing closely behind are Square and ChatGPT, securing second and third spots in the Top 10 rankings. Surprisingly, popular tools like Google Trends, Mailchimp, and Ahrefs did not make it into the top tier.

The research, conducted by marketing experts at Skyline Social, analysed more than 80 digital marketing tools using over 300 Google Keyword Planner search combinations.

The study examined search volumes over the past 12 months to determine the top-ranking tools globally.

YouTube emerged as the clear leader, with an impressive monthly search volume of 10,483. Its versatility in content marketing, audience engagement analytics, and advertising through YouTube Ads makes it an essential platform for marketers worldwide.

The ability to reach global audiences or focus on specific locations likely contributes to its top ranking.

YouTube’s dominance underscores its value as a vital tool in modern digital marketing strategies.

Commenting on these findings, Ash Davis from Skyline Social has said: “Interestingly, YouTube has become a vital digital marketing tool, even though its inception was to share videos online. It does make sense for it to rank high in these findings, considering it is one of the biggest media platforms around the world with global appeal”.

“Knowing and utilising the most popular tools can help equip you with the resources and insights needed to improve your marketing and online growth and awareness. These tools can also enhance creativity and efficiency, as many of them are designed to streamline or automate tasks”.
