Israeli telco Accel Telecom has launched the Voyager, a smartphone specifically designed to be used as in-car connected device. The Voyager, which is fixed onto the dashboard and powered by the car battery, uses a twin SIM – a second SIM card on the same account and phone number as the users primary handset.

The device, which runs on Android, uses hands-free dialling, and also features large physical keys to make it easier to use – including a dedicated button for launching Waze, the navigation app which has partnered with Accel for the launch. 

The Voyager also features all the music, social network and internet browsing functionality youd expect from a smartphone, and can be used as an in-car wi-fi hotspot. The most interesting feature, however, is the devices connection to the cars on-board diagnostics, which can be used for a variety of applications, including safety checks and fleet management.
