AccuWeather now lets you view the latest weather in VR

US weather forecasting and digital media company AccuWeather is now letting people view the latest weather forecasts virtually.

The AccuWeather – Weather for Life app for Samsung Gear VR enables users to experience weather information and updates in 360°. In the app, users are provided with current conditions, and daily and hourly forecasts. Furthermore, users can access ‘exclusive AccuWeather 360° videos for severe weather events’ – including a viral video of a tornado in Wray, Colorado that hit near 1.5m view on YouTube – and immerse themselves in ‘an array of weather animations’. AccuWeather aims for the videos to be ‘both exciting and educational’.

“AccuWeather is excited to partner with Samsung on the launch of the AccuWeather – Weather for Life app for Gear VR,” said Steven Smith, president of digital media at AccuWeather. “The app is interactive and easy for users to access immersive 360° video content and weather forecasts… experiencing weather in revolutionary new ways.”

The Oculus app is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note5, S6 edge+, S6, and S6 edge.
